Unrestrained Passions: The Art of Ng Yuet-lau
Chao Shao-an Gallery,
Hong Kong Heritage Museum
11 July 2010 - 28 February 2011
Chao Shao-an Student Exhibition Series
In this new "Student Exhibition Series", we offer visitors a glimpse into the achievements of Chao Shao-an's students in their continued efforts to explore new horizons beyond the confines of different schools of art and their underlying principles.
Ng Yuet-lau became a student of Chao Shao-an (1905-1998) and Huang Junbi (1898-1991) in the 1970's and, drawing inspiration from the two masters, she burnished her traditional techniques while pursuing a spirit of creativity in her art. Ng excels in a wide range of subjects but is particularly fond of painting landscapes, and her mastery of this traditional genre highlights her virtuosity. A hard-working artist who is always ready to absorb new elements in her paintings, Ng has succeeded in developing a personal style that nevertheless reflects the art of her teachers from which it has evolved.
