Brush Beyond Space: Works of Tong Yang-tze
Thematic Galleries (3), (4) and 2/F corridor,
Hong Kong Heritage Museum 18 September 2010 - 03 January 2011
A prominent contemporary calligrapher, Tong Yang-tze on one hand has inherited the traditions of Chinese calligraphy in her works to carry forward the essence of classical Chinese calligraphy art. On the other hand, she is keen to interact with artists of different disciplines and has attempted to apply calligraphy in a variety of media. She has integrated effectively both the fine traditions of calligraphy and contemporary arts in her artistic creations, garnering attention and discussion.
"Brush Beyond Space: Works of Tong Yang-tze" is a cross-over collaboration among artists from different media. It is also a cultural and artistic exchange between Hong Kong and Taiwan. To give free rein to the expressive power of Tong's 17 calligraphic works on display, the museum has specially invited Taiwanese architect Ray Chen and Hong Kong designer Freeman Lau to take charge of the spatial and graphic design of the exhibition respectively.
