Animal Dynamics: Animal Metaphors in the World of Design
Orientation Theatre
Hong Kong Heritage Museum 15 March 2012 - 15 October 2012
Depictions of animals make frequent appearances in our daily lives: our complex relationship with animals makes us relate to animal metaphors more easily. They have become a common visual language and a powerful means of visual representation in the world of design. On display in the Orientation Theatre are exhibits from the museum’s collections - including posters, toys and stationery - that incorporated animals as themes or design elements. Focusing on rabbit, pig, duck and chicken, we set out to stimulate visitors to notice the way animals have been used, portrayed and translated within our daily living sphere.
