Sha Tin Cultural Festival Special Exhibition
Organized by Shatin District Council Supported by Hong Kong Heritage Museum Known as Lek Yuen in its early years, Sha Tin was one of the first new towns to be developed in the New Territories. Today, it is a thriving urban center that is home to more than 600,000 residents. Going beyond the development as a new town, however, Sha Tin can point to its own unique culture. In this exhibition, visitors can discover how religion, the worship of different gods, fung shui and the transport and catering cultures of Sha Tin all emerged and evolved. The gallery will also screen the classic TV series "When We Were Young", produced by RTHK in the 70s and filmed in Lek Yuen Estate, which will allow visitors to relive the good old days of the first public housing estate in Sha Tin.
