Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and Po Leung Kuk Museum

Po Leung Kuk is a household name in Hong Kong. The words “Po Leung” refer to “baochi anliang” (protection of the young and the innocent), reflecting one of Po Leung Kuk’s most important social functions since the late 19th century – rescuing and protecting destitute women and children. After 145 years, the services of Po Leung Kuk today have reached far beyond the protection of women and children. Along with social and economic development, Po Leung Kuk’s services have been expanded to include vocational training in the Kuk, general education outside the Kuk, and since the 1980s, recreation, elderly and medical services.

This exhibition begins with the Kuk’s residential services – the oldest services offered, documenting the children’s journey from entering and staying in the Kuk to leaving it. This is a journey of mutual help and perseverance in adversity. We invite visitors to embark on the Po Leung journey with us and revisit the precious memories of Hong Kong people.
