Remembering Leslie Cheung 20 Years On

The speaker will take the audience to revisit his own childhood back in the 1990s in parallel with the early years of Leslie Cheung joining the show business. The talk will trace how Leslie rose to stardom in singing and acting and how his fan following grew and evolved over time. Excerpts from his masterpieces will be featured and many different versions of local and overseas editions of his classic albums will be examined in the talk. Audience will also be invited to share their fondest memories of Leslie as a tribute to his life and legacy.

When Zhang Fei Meets Ning Caichen? – Revisiting Leslie Cheung in Movies

Leslie Cheung, as an artist, achieved widespread recognition in both his singing and acting career. In particular, he won critical acclaim by undertaking a series of iconic roles ranging from Chan Chen-peng, Yuddy, Cheng Deiyee, Ouyang Feng to Ho Po-Wing. The talk will take a closer look at Leslie's performance in A Better Tomorrow and A Chinese Ghost Story to review how his screen personas evolved over time as well as to catch a glimpse of the golden age of Hong Kong movie industry in the 1980s.

Leslie Cheung: A Legend of Hong Kong Popular Culture

Leslie Cheung is a legend of Hong Kong's popular culture. As so rightly pointed out by literary critic, Luo Feng in her book, Butterfly of Forbidden Colors: The Artistic Image of Leslie Cheung, Leslie's life was intertwined with the ups and downs of Hong Kong's cultural and historical developments. On marking the 20th anniversary of Leslie's passing, this talk will revisit the legendary life of Leslie to see how he has touched lives of many so immensely. Leslie Cheung has certainly left his mark in Hong Kong's popular culture.
