Hong Kong Heritage Museum - FAQs

Sat, Sun & public holidays: 10am – 7pm
Christmas Eve & Chinese New Year's Eve: 10am – 5pm
Closed on Tue (except public holidays) and the first two days of the Chinese New Year
Box Office will be closed 30 minutes before the Museum closes.

Free admission to all our permanent exhibitions. There might be admission fee for some special exhibitions, please click here for details. 

For application for the waiver of admission charges of the special exhibitions, please click here for details. For enquiries, please contact our staff on 2180 8219 during opening hours.

Photo-taking is generally allowed in the exhibition galleries. Please follow the shooting rules of each exhibition gallery. To maintain pleasant visiting experience, flash-light/ lighting apparatus, tripods or selfie stick are not allowed within the exhibition galleries.

You can make an appointment by telephone (2180 8185) before visiting the Resource Centre on 4/F to access books, periodicals and audio-visual work on Hong Kong's local history, arts and culture. You can also access data of the museum's collection with computers in the Centre.

We will announce on our website and Museum's e-News when a new recruitment programme is to be launched.

For visitors who cycle to the museum, we have also set up a free bicycle parking area. Please contact our enquiry counter for the location of parking area. However, you should bring your own bicycle lock.

The public car park at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum has been closed from 1 August 2025 onward to facilitate the Trunk Road T4 construction project, and the site has been handed over to the Civil Engineering and Development Department for related works.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  

If you would like to make a donation of artifact(s) / artwork(s) to our Museum, you could first let us have the basic information such as your name, contact information, description of the proposed donation and images of objects etc. via the following ways:

Once we have received the information of the proposed donation, we will table the proposal in our regular Programme Committee Meeting and discuss it base on criteria such as the Museum's Collection Policy, the proposed donation's historical or artistic significance and research value and the object(s)' physical condition, etc. according to our established mechanism. Our staff member will also inform the inquirer of the result.
